Place both AirPods in your charging case, and charge for at least 1 hour through a wall outlet. Open the charging case lid and verify the light is flashing amber. Press and hold the setup button on the AirPod for 5 to 30 seconds. The light should flash white. If still flashing amber, continue to charge for another 30 minutes, then attempt this step again until flashing white. Open the case, and with your AirPods, both inserted into the charging case still, hold it next to your phone(phone needs to be unlocked) and wait for the setup animation. Select Connect, and tap Done.

You may have debris blocking the contacts inside your charging case. You can attempt to clean the case and also perform a factory reset by placing both AirPods inside the case with the lid open and holding the setup button for 15 seconds.

I lost my right AirPod over a year ago and decided to replace it. I didn't want to spend the money on a brand new one, and I found Re-Cell Exchange. Hi,
The right ear replacement won’t pair. I tried a few times and still won’t work. At first it gave me a mismatch error in all 3 units and tried to reset it a few times (at least 15 seconds pressed) while the charging case is open. All ended up with 3 beeps and orange light.
But when I remove the right earpiece, my left one works with no issues.
Need your feedback please.
